Makery Programmer

Part-time - 25 hours per week - 6 month contract with possibility of extension
Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library is establishing a community focused Makerspace in a new space called The Makery.

The Makery Programmer will research, create, implement and evaluate engaging interactive programs for school aged children and adult customers in emergent technologies and maker space focused activities. Their awareness and passion for one-on-one and small group instruction will combine with creativity and passion to develop unique programs designed to teach and inspire independent use of The Makery.

• Active interest in current technologies and devices such as: basic coding, 3D printing technologies, Vinyl Cutters, Laser Cutters, Adobe Creative Suite or similar design software. Green screen technologies, and video and sound recording/editing
• Minimum college diploma or university degree
• Well-developed interpersonal, presentation, public relations and customer service skills
• Ability to adapt to flexible work schedules
• Ability to accurately perform detailed work in an environment where interruptions are constant
• Awareness of current library trends particularly those involving the maker movement

Compensation: $23.94 per hour

Library Service Associate

Part-Time - Approximately 10 hours per week

Detailed Job Description
Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library is seeking an experienced, friendly, hardworking individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

The Library Service Associate (LSA) is the first point of contact for library customers and is responsible for ensuring the best possible customer service experience. The LSA is knowledgeable about all NOTLPL programs and services in order to provide assistance at all stages of the customer visit.

• College diploma from an accredited program
• Minimum two years’ experience in a customer service environment
• Experience with automated library systems an asset

• Sunday: 12:45pm - 5:00pm
• Monday 1:00pm - 8:00pm

Student Library Page Position (Part-Time)

Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library is looking for a high school student to fill a Student Library Page position.

A Page job involves:
• Sorting and shelving library materials
• Packing and unpacking
• Straightening and tidying library shelves and tables
• Other related duties as assigned
• Hours vary, but are usually 8-12 hours/week including evenings and weekends (more hours are available during the summer months)
• Must be at least 14 years of age
• Wage is Ontario Student Minimum Wage

The ideal candidate will be:
• Hard-working
• Reliable
• Energetic
• Able to perform work of a physical nature
• Able to communicate well in English
• Able to work well with people of all ages and backgrounds
