About the Interior Renovation

A renewed and updated library will help us meet the needs of our growing and changing community, now and in the future. The new design is based on feedback from the community, library and town staff and the latest research in library design and information technology. Improvements include accessible shelving, a quiet study area, multi-purpose spaces, updated children’s area and a renewed technology learning centre. The Discovery Shelving layout is one of the first of its kind in North America and is based on research carried out in libraries around the world.

Work on the project is underway and estimated to be completed by in Spring 2017. During construction, library services are available in the Community Centre. Special library memberships for NOTL residents are also available from the Niagara Falls and St.Catharines Public Libraries.

The library has received contributions from the federal government’s Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program, an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant, as well as support from the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. A fundraising campaign to raise $250,000 will cover the remaining renovation costs. This campaign builds on the community’s culture of giving to enhance our library, make it accessible to all and position it for the future. Naming opportunities are available. Please consult library staff for more information. Donations of $200 or more will be acknowledged on the donor wall. Donations can be made online, by mail or in person at the library.
