Curbside Pick Up

To help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and to continue to serve our community, Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library will be taking several precautions as we begin to make our services available again.  Below is an outline of our initial plan as well as some FAQs.

Book Bundle

Looking for books to keep your little ones entertained? Enjoy a Special Order Book Bundle!

To make it easy for customers, staff will hand-select bundles of 10 Board Books, Picturebooks or Easy Readers that you can pick up via our curbside pick up! Then, when you are ready to return them, you can drop them off in our Dropbox!

FAQs

How will returned materials be handled?

All returned materials will be quarantined for 96 hours.  This means you may see books on your account that you’ve already returned but we have not yet checked in.  Don’t worry, we’ll check them in as soon as the quarantine period is over, and you won’t be charged any fines.

How does Curbside Pick Up work?

First, place items on hold through our catalogue.  Once you are notified via email that your hold is ready you will also receive a link in your email to book a pick up time.  When you arrive at your scheduled pick up time, pull into the drive through at the library’s entrance.  Your items will be clearly labelled on shelves located in the library’s entrance. When picking up your items please respect your fellow library users and adhere to physical distancing protocols. A vehicle is not required to use this service.

Can I place holds over the phone?

Patrons can call 905.468.2023 and leave a voicemail asking for someone to call them back to place a hold through their accounts.  If you need help selecting items, we can also help you with Readers’ Advisory. 

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL RESPOND TO ALL PICK UP REQUESTS IN THE ORDER THAT THEY ARE RECEIVED.  AN ITEM THAT APPEARS AS “AVAILABLE” IN THE CATALOGUE MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE IF ANOTHER PATRON EARLIER IN THE QUEUE HAS ALREADY REQUESTED IT.

I need something printed, can the library help with that?

Can I request items from other libraries?

Curbside pick up is available for all Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library owned materials and most LiNC library items.  Interlibrary loan materials are unavailable for pick up at this time.

Will pick ups be available at the library’s St. Davids and Virgil remote locations?

Currently, all municipal buildings remain closed to the public, so we are unable to offer services at these locations.  Please check the website, social media and local newspapers for updates.
