When you’re not in school, the library’s the place to be! It’s a maker space extravaganza that will take over the whole library. All ages welcome.

The Great Canadian Historical Songbook

The Great Canadian Historical Songbook
  • A concert that brings history alive with songs and words that tell local stories.

  • Local Niagara musicians will sing songs that weave stories of Native and Black History, unsung heroes, stories of smugglers and daredevils, or inventors who changed the world.

  • The story of Chloe Cooley, the enslaved young Black woman, became the catalyst for Simcoe’s 1793 Act to Limit Slavery; Niagara Falls Riverman William ‘Red’ Hill, was a veteran, a barrel-riding daredevil, and a local hero; and the battles between the genius of both Tesla and Marconi changed our world.

  • These stories are part of Canadian history. And now they come alive with music and words in The Great Canadian Historical Songbook.

  • After performing at five other local venues, the production then becomes a six-part ‘historical’ podcast – a brand new venture for all the performers – showing Canadian history is never dull.
