Welcome to the Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library

Today’s public libraries are far more than shelves of books. They are welcoming hubs that weave the social fabric of a community and invite everyone to explore, learn, and connect. At the Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library, curiosity is always free, and every age, background, and ability finds a place to grow.

Founded in 1800 as the first library in Upper Canada, we remain a cornerstone of civic life. The library brings a dispersed population together by offering information, technology, and genuine human connection. From high-speed internet and computer access to programs that spark conversation, we support every neighbour, including those who are economically vulnerable or socially isolated. Step inside and discover how a library can open entire worlds.
