A Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library card is your free all-access pass to discovery, creativity, and connection. Whether you're borrowing books, accessing eResources, reserving rooms and equipment, or using computers, printers, or Wi-Fi, your membership opens the door to everything the library has to offer - online and in person. Signing up is simple, and the benefits go far beyond the shelves.

You can apply in person or online. In person just bring valid ID showing your name and current address. To apply online, fill out the quick registration form. Your card will be ready when you visit the library with your ID. Children under 13 must have a parent or guardian present to register.

Borrowing Policies
Most library items can be borrowed for 21 days including adult books, children’s books, audiobooks, magazines, and music CDs. These can each be renewed three times. Movies (DVDs) are loaned for 7 days and can be renewed once. Renewals are not available for items that are on hold for another borrower.

Can’t find what you need at our library? We’ve got you covered.
LINC (Libraries in Niagara Cooperative) lets you borrow from a shared catalogue of public libraries across the Niagara region, including Fort Erie, Grimsby, Lincoln, Pelham, Port Colborne, Thorold, Wainfleet, Welland, and West Lincoln. You can request, borrow, and return items from these libraries just like you would at NOTL.
Interlibrary Loan (ILLO) expands your reach even further by allowing you to request materials from libraries across Ontario and beyond through the provincial interlibrary system. This is ideal for academic, specialty, or hard-to-find titles not available locally. You can submit a request form here.
Reciprocal borrowing agreements with Niagara Falls and St. Catharines Public Libraries allow NOTL cardholders to get a free library card from either system and borrow from their collections. Cardholders from Niagara Falls and St. Catharines are also eligible to get a free library card from the NOTL Public Library.
Library of Things
Our Library of Things features a curated collection of non-traditional items available for borrowing, including a karaoke machine, sewing machine, parks passes, and a Behringer podcast studio kit. Designed to support creativity, learning, and everyday tasks, this collection invites you to explore new interests and try out specialized equipment.Accessibility & Outreach

The library partners with CELA, a national service that provides accessible reading materials for people with print disabilities. CELA offers books, newspapers, and magazines in audio, braille, and accessible e-book formats. Eligible patrons can register for CELA service through the library. Learn more or sign up at cela.ca.
Cognitive Care Kits
Designed for individuals living with dementia and their caregivers, Cognitive Care Kits include books, puzzles, games, and other tools that support memory, communication, and quality time together. Kits are available for borrowing with a valid library card.
Words on Wheels
The Words on Wheels program delivers library materials to homebound residents of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Volunteers bring selected books and other materials to those who are unable to visit the library in person. To request service, contact the library at 905-468-2023 or email reference@notlpl.org.
Assistive Devices
The library offers a range of onsite assistive technologies, including ZoomText screen magnification software, a large print keyboard, a trackball mouse, adjustable-height desks, Victor Reader DAISY players, and accessible computer workstations. In addition, assistive items such as walking poles, therapy lamps, and sound amplifiers are available to borrow through the Library of Things.
Library Lockers
The NOTL Public Library offers self-serve hold pickup lockers located in the lobby of the Community Centre (right next to the library). When your requested items are ready, you’ll receive a code to unlock the locker and pick them up at your convenience—available 24/7.
